great MMORPG
This is a great game I've only been playing for 6 months and It still hasn't got boring yet with the odd update from blizzard the game keeps on getting better and better. Don't need alot of skill with games. You don't need to do quest as you do in other rpg's and mmorpg's. If you want you can just go out and explore and kill some general monsters. This game has a massive replayability with 8 races, 9 classes, 12 professions and 100's of spells and abilities. A must have for any RPG fan. It has an Easy to learn but hard to master combat system. Hours on the game is not nessesary but the more you play the more you like it.

Best Multiplayer and RPG Game of 2004
I had the opportunity to participate in the Open Beta test and it was all together an entertaining experience.
Unlike the majority of Massively Online Multiplayer games out there, World of Warcraft has an involving storyline and awesome quests to accomplish and progress your character.
There is an interesting choice of Classes to play and each of them are unique in their ability and style of play. Choosing a different class or race will change your quests and your goals and thus the replayability of this game is outstanding.
This game can be fun when playing by yourself but it really shines when you party with your newly mete adventurer friends to delve into the dark dungeons below. Questing for honour, gold and glory, this is one of the most fun and engaging part of the world.
System requirements are not that steep and is playable with a mid range machine or even with a pc past its prime. It really shines however with a state of the art pc!
There is a large Australian fanbase in World of Warcraft so never fear the thought of playing by yourself as there will be plenty of adventurers in our time zone! If you do commence your character in World of Warcraft, it is highly recommended to start at Blackrock Pacific Server
This game is one of the best games of 2004 !

Game of 2004, Guaranteed
I'v been participating in the Beta and Stress tests and I can tell you that this is going to be one of the best games of 2004, if not 2005 as well. The game world is huge, and the people in the game are fun to talk to, most are helpful and there are zillions of quests and side quests you can do. There are many professions to learn, as well as skills and abilities. The game will appeal to all ages and genders, as there are lots of females online during the beta tests too, plus when i showed my girlfriend the game she loved it and laughed along during the game as she was watched me duel and talk to other people and doing quests, she is interested in playing it when it comes out officially. With guaranteed expansion packs to come along to make the game bigger and better and with an ongoing PvP war, it looks like its going to be huge. 2 Thumbs up. Way up!! BUY IT NOW!

World of Warcraft in perspective
I've been playing MMORPGs for a number of years. I have played most of the major ones-- including EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, and Asheron's Call-- tons of minor ones, and have beta tested plenty as well-- Neocron, StarWars Galaxies, and Horizons, to name a few. I have not played a single WarCraft game however.
While I've played my share of RPGs, RTS just was not my favorite genre.
Naturally, I am familiar with the standard Tolkien-style fantasy found in many RPGs, yet I am not acquainted with WC fantasy. Orcs riding wolves into battle and massive anthropromorphic bulls wielding the forces of nature are not the sort of thing you find in just any MMORPG. While I marvel at the character designs and the vast cities of which Blizzard continues to release screenshots, they do not quite hold the same meaning for me as they do for a die-hard Warcraft fan. Thusly, my perspective is something of an outsider's; perhaps less informed, perhaps more objective, or perhaps some of each.
That said, there are several features about WoW which I think could really set the game apart from its competition. As with any new, promising MMORPG, it really is all a matter of where the development team takes these innovative concepts, and how they are implemented.
Firstly, the quest system. According to what has been said, you will be able to get quests immediately after starting your character, and they will be well woven into your gameplay. You will be able to take on a good deal of quests at once, completing them at your leisure when you are in the right area to do so. Also, the quests look to be creative and original, with some complexity and development; not simply 'FedEx' or 'slaughter' missions.
Second of all is Blizzard's decision to use instanced areas. Playing FFXI on a moderately populated server, I find myself wishing Square-Enix had had the insight to utilize this system not just for its largest bosses, but also for quest-related areas. WoW will have entire dungeons instanced, allowing a player or a party to play in his or their own copy of the map, without the threat of kill stealing or the tedium of camping. Of course, there will be an abundance of non-instanced areas as well, to intermingle with your fellow players and to form groups.
Last but not least, the rich WC universe and its history. Even from my perspective, this is quite an appealing aspect. It has provided the game with a whole host of content: its races and classes, its world and the variety of regions therein, and the lore that underscores everything. Couple this with the engaging quest system WoW touts, and you endow a game with the feeling of cohesion and reality that games of this genre which use some vague amalgamation of fantasy simply cannot emulate. For me, roleplaying is achieved not through 'thees' and 'thous,' but rather by being drawn into the story. When I'm completing a quest, not because I'll be getting a '+1 Sword of 0wning,' but because that poor Zombie needs his head back, that's when I call it a successful roleplaying game.
As I said initially, what exists now is only potential (Well, potential and pretty graphics). The rest remains to be seen. Blizzard has yet to disappoint its fans, or its share holders. Certainly, WoW has a large fanbase of Warcraft addicts everywhere, and stands to captivate a good chunk of the MMO market; but if Blizzard can't deliver, no one's going to shell out US$14.95 a month for long. Will Blizzard succeed with WoW where so many other games have failed? Or will WoW fade into obscurity within a few years? I await the answer to that question with baited breath.
