Best Sci-Fi Series EVER

This is the best Science Fiction series I have EVER seen. It was created by Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel) and has his usual strong, wise cracking characters, with the twist of being a western (think Gunsmoke or Maverick) set on other planets and in outer space. There are no aliens, just us humans. The characters are well written, and never do anything out of character to advance the plot. I agree that it is a crime that it was cancelled - it was not the fault of the series but the original network - apparently the series was run out of order, and started and stopped several times due to other commitments. There is a large fan base in Australia and in US, with a ongoing fight to have another series/movie created. Serenity (the movie from the series) is the only movie made AFTER a series was cancelled - and is also not to be missed.

compelling

After watching the series I was hooked. This great science fiction, action drama, had quirky comedy moments.It was not only entertaining, it make you feel as if the characters belonged together. You were along for the ride of your life. It is packed full of mystery. The mystery that surrounds River and her brother are very compelling. The captain and pilot is so funny. The casting director did an excellent job in putting the actors together in this show. It was just brilliant. They actually acted realistic, what more can I say. Effects and set design is fantastic. What makes this a must see for the science fiction fan is it is more than science fiction, it’s a cowboy, war and outlaw movie and packed with action. Perhaps not the total good guy next door. This movie is not full of sex and gore, although the hint is there, I feel that movies don’t have to be as it makes it less watch able to me. I am sure others may like that kind of stuff but there is more to a shove than gore and sex. The one thing that disappointed me was when I found out that the series was cancelled. I really felt cheated without having an end. But don’t despair as this television series got enough of a following they made the movie serenity. My advice is to watch the series firefly first, then the movie serenity. You don’t know what you are missing if you are a science fiction fan and the movie ties it all together. Perhaps this was not advertised enough to the public to make it have been more popular, but I thought it was great.
